- David de Gea could leave Manchester United for free in the summer
- The Spaniard is willing to stay with the Red Devils but the club is unwilling to trigger an extension
- He is currently the highest earner at Old Trafford after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo
Spanish goalkeeper Davd De Gea is in danger of leaving Manchester United for free after more than a decade with the club.
De Gea’s contract is set to run out in the summer, but there are no indications that Manchester United will trigger a 12-month extension that is present in the shot-stopper’s clause.
Furthermore, United manager Erik Ten Hag is reportedly open to signing a replacement and is not keen to see De Gea stay once his contract runs out.
The 32-year old signed for Manchester United back in 2011 and is currently the only player in the squad who knows what it feels like to win a league title with the club.

He is currently on a £300,000 a week deal at Manchester United, but this could all come to an end if the club decides to do away with him in June, per The Sun and Sky Germany.
Meanwhile, United are eyeing several goalkeepers who have impressed at the Qatar World Cup including FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.
Costa was impressive for Portugal as the Selecao bowed out of the competition in the quarter finals.
Before the World Cup break, Ten Hag also cast doubt on De Gea’s Manchester United future, saying:
"As a person, I like him. I can cooperate with him really well.” Ten Hag said.
"But first we go to the winter and then we will talk about how deal with such situations.”

De Gea tells off Real Madrid
Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on De Gea’s stance on Alejandro Garnacho as Real Madrid reportedly express interest in the young Argentine.
Garnacho has enjoyed a stunning rise to prominence in recent weeks, with the teenage sensation finding a breakthrough into Man United's first team.
De Gea has now come out to fend off Real's interest in the young prospect, insisting the Spanish giants have no chance to lure Garnacho to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
"We won’t let him leave," De Gea told Spanish reporters.
