Drake backs Argentina

Grammy Award-winning artist, Drake, has thrown his weight behind Messi's Argentina to clinch the World Cup against France.

In a video making the rounds on social media, Drake, wearing the jersey of Italian side SSC Napoli, discussed Sunday's final between Argentina and France.

But while it would typically be positive news to have a famous person support you publicly, this is not the case when it comes to Drake because of the 'Drake curse'.

The teams the Canadian music superstar usually supports end up losing.

Most fans believe this puts an end to Argentina's chances, while some claim that if someone is capable of breaking the curse, it has to be the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

What is the Drake curse?

According to GOAL, the 'Drake Curse' is a phenomenon whereby teams and individuals suffer misfortune in the wake of any sort of association with the rapper.

Numerous teams and athletes have suffered losses in an upcoming sporting event after coming into contact with Drake with Canada suffering a similar fate, which saw the North American nation lose all three of their World Cup games.

Aside from the Canada incident Drake also lost millions betting on Barcelona in the El Clasico and former UFC champion Israel Adesanya to defend his title against Alex Pereira.

Fans wary of Drake curse

Sports Brief earlier reported that some Barcelona fans have reacted negatively to the club’s collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake and have taken to social media to express their fears about the new partnership.

The Catalans revealed they will be wearing the Canadian rapper’s record label logo on their jersey for El Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid, to the dismay of many of the club’s supporters.

According to Sport Bible, Drake has been blamed for several sports stars and teams losing their next game or fight, after posing for a photograph with the four-time Grammy award winner.
