Whatever the outcome of the match is, it will go a long way in defining his status as one of football greats, he is well aware of this as he approaches his last FIFA World Cup match.

Messi declares readiness for the final

The former Barcelona captain took to his Instagram page to share an update ahead of the match that he is ready and will lead his team out against France.

The post which was a promotional one shared together with his kit supplier Adidas football wrote ''Estoy Listo. Vamos Argentina.'' which translates to ''I'm ready. Let's go Argentina.''

The final will be Messi's second final having also made the final in 2014 but lost to Germany. He will hope to have one better than the experience of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Aguero and Messi reunite before final

Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are best friends and have been roommates with the national team since their U20 days until Aguero was forced to retire due to a heart condition.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Messi invited his friend to join him as roommate once more ahead of the big day. He has not had a roommate since last year's Copa America.

The former Manchester City striker signed for Barcelona because of his friend but financial situation at Camp Nou meant he left for PSG, they never played together.
