Ahead of a crucial 2022 World Cup final, the France squad is struggling with illness in some of their important players.

Late this week, Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate of Liverpool are the latest Les Bleus players to come down with illness

Adrien Rabiot, Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman missed France's semi-final clash with Morocco.

Several teams have been hit by a bug but France are the worst affected and it comes at a bad time as they prepare for the World Cup final on Sunday.

Reports in France say Varane's symptoms are mild while Konate's are slightly severe. Rabiot and Upamecano returned to training after Morocco's game, but there;'s still concern about their defenders, per Eurosport.

Didier Deschamps's side are looking to defend the title they won in 2018. Only two countries have won back-to-back Jules Rimet trophies. Italy in 1930 and 1934 and Brazil in 1958 and 1962, per AS.

Dembele illness remedy

Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of Argentina's showdown on Sunday evening, France winger Ousmane Dembele said he was helping his teammates with a special remedy, per the Athletic.

“No, we’re not scared of the virus. Dayot and Adrien had headaches. I made them a cup of tea with ginger and honey to help them relax."

The Barcelona star is optimistic that all his teammates will be ready to go on Sunday.

“I think everyone will be fit for Sunday’s game. We’re not worried. We’re just taking precautions."
