Former Chelsea star Damien Duff has stated emphatically that football fans should not compare Kylian Mbappe with Lionel Messi claiming that the Argentine is the best ever.

These two soccer stars are currently in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and will meet in the final of the competition on Sunday, 18 December, which is expected to be tough.

Interestingly, Messi and Mbappe will be playing in their second World Cup final and fans on social media have started making their predictions.

Messi and Argentina on the other hand were knocked out by France in the round of 16.

What did Duff say?

According to a video on Twitter, Duff claimed that Mbappe is not at the level of peak Messi.

Statement made by Duff

"The best version of Messi, when he was, what, 23, 24, 25, maybe - Mbappe doesn't lace his boots.
"The best version of Messi, Mbappe still doesn't touch Messi. That's how good Messi was. That is what I am saying.
"Messi is the best ever.''

Deschamps lauds Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how the build-up to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup final is already gathering pace, not long after the two semi-finals were played with France and Argentina making the final.

The majority of the attention in Argentina has been expectedly focused on Lionel Messi, and rightly so as Sunday's final represents a lot for him.

It will be his last World Cup, his second final as well as the chance to cement his name as the greatest player of all time by winning the only trophy left in his career.

France however wants to retain their title and despite acknowledging the former Barcelona captain's greatness, they have ambitions of their own to chase.
