  • United have now lost both of their fixtures during their World Cup tour of Spain, having initially fallen to Cadiz

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has broken his silence following his side's 1-0 embarrassing defeat to Real Betis in a friendly clash.

The Red Devils are currently on a tour in Spain as they prepare for the resumption of the 2022/23 season after the 2022 World Cup.

United were billed to take part in two club friendlies before they resume the season with a Carabao Cup clash against Burnley.

The Old Trafford dwellers were initially hammered 4-2 by relegation-threatened Cadiz before they were humbled 1-0 by Real Betis on Saturday, December 10.

How Real Betis stunned Man United

Ten Hag named a relatively weaker side against the Spanish giants, with the Dutchman parading a mixture of academy stars and first-team players.

Anthony Martial, Elanga, Scott McTominay, and Victor Lindelof all featured in the tie, with David de Gea taking his place between the sticks.

However, that was not enough to stop United from losing, with Nabil Fekir's 43rd-minute goal the only difference in the tie.

Reacting to his side's defeat to Betis, Ten Hag insisted his charges were in better shape than they were during their defeat to Cadiz.

"We made progression. There are no routines in this team. But we were better, better than the game against Cadiz," he said via the Man United website.

Video of Sancho training alone

Sports Brief earlier reported on Sancho being captured on video doing some individual work in the Netherlands after the World Cup snub.

As far as the England squad is concerned, Sancho was a crucial part of the team during the Euro 2020 but has featured for the national side just once since that tournament.

Notably, he is yet to make an appearance for England in 2022 due to a combination of injuries and a spectacular dip in form at Man United.
