Netherlands boss Louis Van Gaal took pride in the fact that his Dutch teams were yet to ever taste defeat in regular time as he revealed plans to walk away from the Dutch national team for the third time.

It was another bitter end to the Dutch’s World Cup hopes as they were knocked out via a penalty shootout, despite doing brilliantly to come from two goals down against Argentina.

In the thrilling encounter, Oranje somehow drew level after falling two goals behind, with Wout Weghorst’s brace forcing the game into extra time.

There were uncouth incidents during and after the encounter, and it was all accelerated after Leandro Parades smashed a ball into the Netherlands technical area.

After the game, Van Gaal detailed some of the insults he was subjected to by some of the Argentina players.

"I speak a little Spanish, after the game the goalkeeper of Argentina told me that I spoke too much." He said as quoted on The Mirror.

End of the LVG era

In his post-match press conference, Van Gaal also made it clear he would be leaving the Netherlands job after his nation’s World Cup exit.

"First and foremost I won’t be continuing. I only did it for this period of time. This was my very last match of my third term as head coach," He said.

"In that time I coached 20 matches and we didn’t lose a single one. I don’t know how many matches we won, but you can Google ‘Louis van Gaal, Dutch team’ and see the goal difference for yourself."

Neymar irate after Brazil concede

Sports Brief also reported on Neymar’s frustration at his team for conceding a goal so late against Croatia.

The Paris Saint Germain superstar gave his side the lead in the 106th minute, but with the game meandering towards the end, Croatia found an equalizer through substitute Bruno Petkovic.

Moments after Croatia found the equalizer, Neymar was seen reprimanding his teammates on why they insisted on going forward when all they needed to do was see out the game with some resolute defending.
