  • Brazil superstar Neymar was irate after his side conceded a goal minutes to the end of extra time
  • Croatia ended up winning the quarter-final tie via a penalty shootout to upset Brazil
  • Neymar had given his nation the lead in extra time, but it was cancelled out moments later
  • A video has since emerged showing Neymar’s reaction to his side conceding instead of seeing out the game

Neymar was furious with his teammates for focusing on attacking with only five minutes to go after he had given Brazil the lead against Croatia.

The Paris Saint Germain superstar gave his side the lead in the 106th minute, but with the game meandering towards the end, Croatia found an equalizer through substitute Bruno Petkovic.

It thus had to be decided by a penalty shootout which Brazil eventually fell short of as Rodrygo and Marquinhos missed their spot kicks.

“Why are you attacking”

Moments after Croatia found the equalizer, Neymar was seen reprimanding his teammates on why they insisted on going forward when all they needed to do was see out the game with some resolute defending.

The video, shared by Brazilian reporter Marcio Spimpolo, appeared to show Neymar asking his teammates why they were attacking with a 1-0 lead with five minutes to go.

Interestingly, Neymar did not get the chance to take a penalty in the shootout as Brazil missed two of their opening four kicks.

Moments after the defeat, it was also confirmed that coach Tite stepped down from his role in the Brazilian dugout.

Messi pulls off assist of the tournament

In the other game, Sports Brief reported on how Lionel Messi might have pulled what is now being considered the assist of the tournament against the Netherlands.

The Argentine picked up teammate Nahuel Molina with a seemingly impossible pass for Argentina’s opener

What seemed to amaze people who witnessed the goal was the fact that Messi did not take time to look at Molina’s run as he seemed to have already established his teammate was in space.

Argentina saw off the Dutchmen via post-match penalties after it ended 2-2 in regular time.
