What Ronaldo told Piers
On Tuesday, Portugal came up against Switzerland in a Round of 16 game, which Ronaldo - quite surprisingly - started on the bench.
The move led to lots of debate online but ended up working seamlessly for the former Real Madrid man’s team, who ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.
Ronaldo’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos netted a hat-trick as a quarter-final showdown with Morocco was set.
Moments after the win, Piers Morgan took to Twitter with interesting claims on what the superstar allegedly told him about Portugal’s chances.
“Portugal were sensational tonight. Ronaldo told me he thought they could win the World Cup, and they might.” Morgan tweeted.
As expected, fans were quick to poke fun at the controversial media personality, while others slammed him for using Ronaldo’s name to build his social media presence.
“Did he tell you he would be benched too?” one fan asked.

Football“He also told you he’s the greatest ever. He’s not. He’s 4th behind Maradona, pele and Messi,” another added.
“I think Ronaldo should stop communication with Piers, because he is now using him to build his socials and media interviews. While giving a bad impression about him to the world,” added another.
Piers praises Hakimi
Sports Brief also reported on Piers Morgan directing his compliments towards Morocco's Achraf Hakimi, after the PSG man’s ice-cold penalty against Spain on Tuesday.
Hakimi confidently delivered the Panenka penalty kick to send the Europeans crashing out of the World Cup in Qatar, with the Atlas Lions progressing to the quarter-final.
After La Roja missed their first three spot kicks, the hopes of a whole continent were on the PSG right-back, but Hakimi opted for style over safety.
