In photos that has since gone viral on social media, Suarez wept uncontrollably after South Korea took a 2-1 lead in their match.

Suarez was the architect as Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored a double first half brace to sink the Black Stars of Ghana.

The two teams came into the game with memories from the same fixture 12 years ago in South Africa.

Suarez is making his last appearance at the World Cup after a glittering career that has seen him win several laurels in Europe.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Luis Suarez is still haunting Ghanaians after a moment of brilliance in the first half of the game between the Black Stars and Uruguay.

A brace in the first half from Giorgian de Arrascaeta sees Uruguay take the lead before the break.

Suarez has been the architect for the South Americans with both goals coming through him.

Suarez inspires Uruguay to victory against Ghana

Uruguay crashed out of the World Cup on Friday despite beating Ghana 2-0 after South Korea scored a late winner in the other Group H match to leapfrog the South American side.

Giorgian De Arrascaeta netted twice in quick succession in the first half, with 35-year-old Luis Suarez having a hand in both goals.

However, Suarez finished the match on the bench in tears as he news came in of South Korea's last-gasp victory over Portugal, which meant the Asian side had moved above the Uruguayans into second place in Group H on goals scored.
