Modric sets new championship record

Meanwhile, Modric is the first player to play in both the European Championship and the World Cup in three different decades.

His first Euros campaign came in 2008, and the Croatian talisman has since played in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 editions.

Modric's World Cup adventures have come in 2006, 2014 and 2018, with this latest venture likely being his last chance of a good run at 37 years of age.

Modric named match's best player

Sports Brief earlier reported that Real Madrid midfielder Modric was man of the match, after the 2022 World Cup battle between his country and Morocco.

Despite the encounter ending in a goalless draw on November 23, Modric was able to stand tall above all the other players on the pitch, considering his performance.

His attacking style and brilliant distribution of passes in the midfield were superb against the Atlas Lions, who also had a few chances to win the game.
