Bloemfontein Celtic's die-hard supporters protest outside Macufe Cup venue before Kaizer Chiefs vs Royal AM
Die-hard Bloemfontein Celtic fans are protesting the Macufe Cup match between Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM later today.
They flocked outside the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein where the match will take place. Royal AM is a touchy subject for these supporters, as its owner Shauwn Mkhize bought Celtics' Premier Soccer League status last year.
They vowed not to buy the match tickets, and would camp outside the venue of the fixture in its entirety.
MaMkhize considering taking Royal AM games to Bloemfontein following Celtic fans' protest at Macufe Cup
Shauwn Mkhize has displayed the skill of 'reading the room'. MaMkhize is looking to have some Royal AM fixtures taken to the Free State as soon as possible.
She bought out the cash-strapped Bloemfontein Celtic's Premier Soccer League status in 2021, which led to heartbreak and bitterness among Celtic's supporters in the city, the province and the country. This reached a head when die-hard supporters protested outside the Free State Stadium during Royal AM's Macufe Cup match against Kaizer Chiefs.
Mkhize is seriously pondering taking some of Thwihli Thwahla's matches to the Free State in the future in a smart attempt to mend fences.
