Lionel Messi has broken his silence after missing from the spot during Argentina's 2-0 triumph against Poland at Stadium 974 on Wednesday, November 30.
Messi had previously scored from the penalty spot in Argentina's shock loss to Saudi Arabia and was touted to increase his goal tally from 12 yards, however, the unexpected occurred.
The 35-year-old saw his penalty saved by Poland's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, chalking an unenviable record of becoming the first player to have two penalties saved in the World Cup.
Speaking after Argentina sealed qualification to the last 16 of the tournament, Messi admitted he has been pained by his penalty miss in their final group game.

“I’m still angry for having missed the penalty," Messi began as quoted by All Football App.
He continued: "But the team came out stronger after that. We knew that once the first goal went in, it would change the game and they would open up”
“The previous win against Mexico gave us a lot of peace of mind and we went out onto the field today thinking we had to win"
