- Musiala was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and has a reason for snubbing his homeland
Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya has explained why Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala decided to play for Germany instead of Nigeria, where his father hails from.
Musiala was born in Germany and his mother is German as well, but the footballer was raised in England from the young age of seven.
Despite being eligible to play for Nigeria, Germany handed Musiala his first national team call-up in 2021, and he has so far featured in 19 matches for Die Mannschaft, scoring one goal.
The 19-year-old was instrumental in their 1-1 draw with Spain, as Germany survived a World Cup group-stage disaster.

In a chat with SuperSport, Bwalya described the former Chelsea academy player as 'quick' and narrated why he opted to play for Germany.
Bwalya said, as per Complete Sports:
“His father is Nigerian, the mother is German. He went to England when he was very, very young, and so he decided to play for Germany, which delighted the Germans, of course."
Bwalya added that Musiala reminded him of Kylian Mbappe in some ways.
As a versatile player, Musiala plays both on the wings and in all midfield positions. Hansi Flick, who gave the player his debut at FC Bayern Munich earlier, said:
“He has a great eye and feeling for choosing the right spaces. He is very confident on the ball and can play well between the lines.”

FootballWhy Mbappe didn't represent Cameroon
Sports Brief earlier reported that Kylian Mbappe's father has narrated what transpired in his son opting to play for Les Bleus rather than Cameroon.
Mbappe was born in Paris to a Cameroonian father, Wilfried and an Algerian mother, but he did want to play senior national team football for the Central African Country where his dad is from.
Back in 2018 though, Wilfried alleged that a member of the Cameroon FA requested a payment before the young Mbappe would be allowed to make the squad.
