Football moves centre-stage after troubled World Cup build-up
FootballInside the Audacious Transfer Plans of Saudi Arabia for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
- Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi could potentially play together in the middle East
- Ronaldo is currently out of contract, while Messi will be out of contract in June 2023 at PSG
- Multiple reports have indicated that Ronaldo was considering joining PSG in January to play in the Champions League
The Saudi Arabia government are reportedly targeting Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the two best players of all time to join their league in what would be a bold move.
The Saudi government will need to convince Messi and Ronaldo, who still feel they can still play at a higher level in Europe.
Ronaldo is a free agent after Manchester United terminated his contract after he criticised the manager Erik ten Hag in the viral interview with controversial journalist Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo wanted to leave Old Trafford this past summer but no club playing for the Champions League bid for the 37-year-old. Therefore, the move to the Middle East may be enticing, according to the Guardian.

Ronaldo and Messi in Saudi Arabia?

"Who wouldn't want him to play in their league? He's a role model to many young players - him and Messi."
Prince Abdulaziz added that Messi's ambassadorial role with the Saudi tourism board has benefited the Middle Eastern country.
"That's benefited a lot in terms of tourism for the kingdom. If they can, I'd love to see them both play in the Saudi league."
