According to Metro UK, United had agreed a £15 million deal with Juventus over the transfer of the Frenchman, only for the move to fall through at the last minute after they were unable to agree personal terms with the player.

The Old Trafford dwellers went on to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid, with Rabiot opting to stay at Juve.

The 27-year-old enjoyed something of a resurgence in the Serie A and has transferred the same run of fine form to the World Cup in Qatar.

Whereas Juve boss Max Allegri is understood to be keen to keep Rabiot, that may not be the case, with the Frenchman courting interest from Premier League clubs.

According to reports, it is becoming increasingly likely that Rabiot could leave Turin soon, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The midfielder is free to have negotiations with foreign clubs as of January, with the view of making a free transfer next summer.

Calciomercato reports that Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring Rabiot’s situation, while Tottenham Hotspur could also make a move.

Ziyech hints at Chelsea exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech looks set to leave the club, ahead of the January transfer window.

Ziyech was on the verge of quitting the Blues in the summer, after struggling for game time under former manager Thomas Tuchel.

However, the transfer did not materialise, with the Morocco international forced to remain at Stamford Bridge.
