Is Zidane right about Guardiola?
Zidane's comment about Pep Guardiola would appear less controversial as the facts and figures of his managerial career speak for themselves against other managers both past and present.
Of the currently active managers in European football, Guardiola has won the most trophies, 31, including a sextuple in 2009, only closely followed by his major rival for most of his career, the Special One Jose Mourinho (26).
Carlo Ancelotti (4) and Zinedine Zidane (3) are the only active managers with more UEFA Champions League trophies than Guardiola (2) tied with Jose Mourinho.
Guardiola fired warning to rivals
Sports Brief earlier reported that Guardiola sent rivals a message shortly after his new City contract was announced.
The Spaniard has dominated English football since he came to the Premier League in 2016 winning nine major trophies including four of the last five Premier League titles and completed a domestic quadruple in the 2018/19 season.
The only trophy that has eluded Guardiola at Manchester City is the UEFA Champions League which he last won in 2011 at Barcelona. He was beaten by Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea in the 2021 final.
