Wayne Rooney has shared his feelings about Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United exit.

The Red Devils' drastic decision came just days after Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan, where he aimed brutal comments at the club's top brass.

Rooney speaks on Ronaldo's exit

Wayne Rooney, a Man United legend who played alongside Ronaldo at one point, has now claimed that United had no other choice but to axe his former teammate.

According to the ex-England international, Ronaldo's sacking was no surprise as he had seen it coming.

"There was no other choice, but that's a shame because he's been a fantastic servant to the club," Rooney said via Daily Mail.

The DC United boss, who has had a war of words with the Portugal superstar recently, added that he wished CR7 the best on the next stage of his journey.

Meanwhile, it now remains to be seen where Ronaldo could move next, with the Portuguese star already in the twilight years of his career.

7 clubs Ronaldo could join

Cristiano Ronaldo is already said to be on the hunt for his next club, following the termination of his contract by Manchester United this week.

Although he is 37 years old, a number of top clubs are reportedly seeking the Portugal star's signature, including Bayern Munich, Sporting Lisbon and even Newcastle United.

Despite being on international duty for his country, Ronaldo will certainly be considering offers as he 'seeks a new challenge' after the Red Devils debacle.
