Kane recently fueled speculation over his future after it emerged he had tabled a transfer request to Tottenham, who are in danger of missing out on European football next season.

Despite being Spurs’s all-time goalscorer, and the leading marksman in the Premier League for yet another season, Kane is still yet to win any silverware as a Spurs player.

Manchester City is believed to be Kane’s preferred destination, with the England forward keen to stay in the Premier League, but Liverpool legend John Barnes believes the striker would be better off at Manchester United or Chelsea.

"As far as the three clubs go, he should pick Chelsea or Manchester United rather than Manchester City," Barnes said as quoted by Sportbible.
"If he goes to Manchester City, he is not going to be the player he is at Tottenham, because at Tottenham he is the creator, goal scorer and the focal point for everything.”

Barnes’s also observed that Manchester City have played a large chunk of the season without a recognized striker and still managed to thrive.

Notably, Pep Guardiola’s finest run of form in the second half of the season came when he was playing the false-nine setup.

The Liverpool legend is aware of this and he believes Guardiola would never alter his entire set up for one striker.

City need a striker with Aguero leaving

With the imminent departure of Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, Pep Guardiola will certainly be in the market for a long-term striker.

The Premier League Champions are the most willing spenders in the league, placing them as favorites to snap up Harry Kane’s services.

“I don’t want a career with regrets”

In a recent interview with Gary Neville, Kane opened up on his career where he insisted he did not want to retire with any regrets.

The 27-year old quelled reports that he was desperate for trophies as he feels he still has some good years ahead of him.

"I don't want to come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be the best I can be," Kane said on Gary Neville's YouTube channel The Overlap.
"I never said I'd stay at Spurs for the rest of my career and I've never said I'd leave Spurs. People might say, 'he's desperate for trophies, he needs trophies', but I feel like I've still got almost another career to play. "
