Photos doing rounds on social media show that the observation had indeed some truth in it, as Sanchez has several features in common with the Man United boss.
From his head to his overall demeanour as he watched the game, several fans easily mistook him for ten Hag for a brief moment.
"The Qatar manager must be Ten Hag's brother," one fan said.
"Qatar couldn’t do better than Wish Ten Hag for a manager?" another joked.
"The Qatar Manager looks like a lite version of Ten Hag," said another fan.
"Can't get over the fact that the Qatar manager looks exactly like Eric Ten Hag."
“Why does the Qatar manager look like an Ebrahim Ten Hag?” another quipped.
As far as the game was concerned, Ecuador were simply too good for the host nation.

He scored from the penalty spot after being brought down by Qatar goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb, before powering in another header before half time to give Ecuador an unassailable lead.
Sports Brief also earlier reported of an incident where frustrated Qatar fans were spotted leaving the stadium early, in the second half of their encounter against Ecuador.
In photos doing rounds online, large groups of local fans lost hope in the final 45 or so minutes, leaving the Al Bayt Stadium before the final whistle.
