  • Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has made his prediction for the upcoming World Cup, and it is not surprising
  • He said that any team that is psychologically prepared could go all the way
  • Carlos won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil and spent several years at Real Madrid, winning three Champions League titles

Legendary Brazil defender Roberto Carlos had given his prediction for the 2022 World Cup, which kicks off on Sunday, 20th November.

Carlos won the title with the Seleção in 2002, and his country has yet to win the top prize again. However, the South Americans have been dubbed as overwhelming favourites.

Still, their arch-rivals at two-time winners of the tournament Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, are expected to go all the way and possibly set up an iconic showdown with Brazil.

Carlos, 49, retired in 2015 after a trophy-laden career with Real Madrid. He played 527 games for Los Blancos and earned 125 caps for his country, according to Transfermarkt.

He won five La Liga titles, three Champions League crowns and the 2002 World Cup. He has also scored some of the most memorable goals in world football.

Roberto Carlos prediction

According to the Mirror, Carlos revealed that pressure is on Brazil to win, considering they've underwhelmed in the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions.

"The biggest pressure, in my opinion, is on the Brazilian national team - 20 years without winning it. The last photo at the Brazilian national headquarters is ours!"

He said winning this year's edition would be sweeter after 20 years of heartbreak and disappointment. He stressed that any team that is mentally ready will do well.

"All the teams are strong and whoever is the most psychologically prepared is going to win this tournament."

He declared that Brazil will win the trophy this year.

"Brazil [to be] champions!"

Carlos praises two England players

Sports Brief earlier reported on Carlos naming the two English players who could get into the current Brazil team.

Roberto Carlos has high praise for England players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Kane.

Tite's Brazil and Gareth Southgate's England are among the favourites to win in Qatar.
