Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount has revealed what the Three Lions must do to overcome top teams like Argentina and Brazil at the World Cup.

The two South American giants are overwhelming favourites to lift the World Cup trophy in Qatar, as the tournament kicks off in a few days.

Brazil and Argentina have won the tournament seven times between them. Brazil have lifted the title a record five times, in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002, while Lionel Messi's side won in 1978 and 1986.

Meanwhile, England have won just one World Cup tournament in 1966. However, Gareth Southgate's side have come close to winning a major tournament.

They reached the semis of the 2018 edition and missed the Euro 2020 by a whisker, losing on penalties to Italy, according to ESPN.

Mount: England adopts dark arts

Mount will be making his debut at the World Cup and is expected to start for England on Monday, November 21, against Iran.

He said that the Three Lions will need to drop their nice guy approach and employ the dark arts when playing against top sides like Argentina and Brazil, according to Talksport.

“For us, playing the Euros, friendly games and the other games we play, we don’t get to experience the likes of Brazil and Argentina and Colombia - the teams that do stuff off the ball, the dark arts of the game, especially in big games like this. If we do get to play, them you have to be ready for that."
