Manchester United will now have their hands full against Premier League rivals Manchester City in their bid to sign Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
Reports from the Etihad Stadium have it that the Citizens are ready to go head-to-head with their bitter rivals United who have been on the trail of the 20-year-old.
Haaland has been heavily linked with a move to the Old Trafford side for months now with the Red Devils failing to land the striker last summer.
He came to limelight during his stint with German side RB Salzburg before his move to his present club Dortmund in January.
Haaland’s magnificent form has attracted several big clubs across Europe as he has so far scored 24 goals in his 27 appearances for Dortmund.
And having recently renewed his contact for a further two years, Pep Guardiola is determined to bolster his squad and he had named Haaland as one of his targets.
The Norwegian has been linked with several top clubs in Europe and now City and United have joined.
It was gathered that reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid have been making underground moves as well, but City are desperate in finding a formidable replacement for their all-time scorer Sergio Aguero who is in the final year of his contract.
The Argentine has been prone to injuries and he has managed just four games for Manchester City so far this season.
Haaland's contract expires in 2024 and his deal includes a £68.7million release clause.
He would reportedly cost £91million with his agent Mino Raiola and family receiving £27million.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United will take on Manchester City in a much anticipated Premier League clash on Saturday, December 12 and it is unlikely for Edinson Cavani to start.
According to the predicted line-up, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have tough decisions to make as he faces-off with Pep Guardiola.
With injury depleting the Red Devils squad, the United manager will also have tough decisions over David de Gea and Paul Pogba.
