Feel it: it is here.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is upon us and the excitement is approaching its peak. Hosts Qatar will take on Ecuador in the opening match of the first-ever Middle Eastern world cup on Sunday evening.

All those anticipating the event have given their thoughts on how the event will pan out, as reported by Sports Brief.

Speaking at a Carling Black Label event connect to the global showpiece, Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana said:

"There are a lot of exciting fixtures that are coming. My money is on Belgium. They need to win... or else I will go back to Zebediela!"

Current Sundowns star and Bafana player Bongani Zungu said:

"Some teams have got big, big players. As the tournament unfolds, you will be able to tell with the form [how it might eventually go]. For me, my money is on Argentina."

'Influencer' Brown Mbombo interjected:

"Am I the only one who wants Brazil?"

Hip-hop artist YoungstaCPT added his two cents' worth in saying:

"Sometimes you must also bet on the underdogs, also. The one that everyone thinks is gonna lose is the one that can come from the back and come from the bottom. You must also be aware of that. Sometimes these teams can surprise you, and you won't know what to expect, really."
