Gary Neville has opened up for the first time after being slammed by Cristiano Ronaldo in the bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo did an interview with Talk TV where he spoke to Piers Morgan about a number of issues ranging from his career to his personal life.
One of the stand-out sentiments during that interview was Ronaldo’s criticism of his former teammates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
According to Ronaldo, Neville in particular allegedly used his name to gain media popularity, and he did not understand why Rooney always criticized him.

Neville’s response
Appearing on Sky Sports, Neville gave an in-depth take to Ronaldo’s entire interview.
The former Manchester United defender echoed what many fans feel at this point in time, as he hinted United might not have a choice but to terminate Ronaldo’s contract.
"He wouldn't have done this interview if he wanted a way back. He knew it would bring the headlines it has and be the end of his Manchester United career." Neville said.
"I'm wondering what Manchester United are doing because the reality of it is they know they have to terminate Cristiano's contract, or they basically open up a precedent so any player can criticize them in the future.”

FootballUnited bosses are yet to determine the exact punishment to administer to Ronaldo, although latest reports suggest lawyers are being involved.
According to Neville, however, Manchester United are partially responsible for how the situation with Ronaldo has turned out.
"Exits don't have to happen this way if both sides are proactive and mature." He went on.

This happened after Ronaldo made his sensational return to Manchester United in the summer of 2021.
