The head coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro has disclosed that his aim is to lead the squad to victory over Portugal on Thursday evening, November 17.
Peseiro will lead the Eagles against his home country in a Grade A friendly match, slated for the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.
This encounter is coming barely three days before the kick-off of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, a tournament in which Nigeria will not be participating.
Portugal are heading to Qatar for the global showpiece and team coach, Fernando Santos will use this game as their final build-up to the prestigious tournament.

Peseiro, who was appointed in May, has disclosed that the aim of the Super Eagles is to achieve an outright victory.
He said via Soccernet:
“Sincerely, I am wishing that this is a FIFA World Cup group stage match, because I tell you, that is the level at which Nigeria should be playing."
Peseiro said although the Super Eagles would not be travelling to Qatar, their objective against Portural is to win. He added his enthusiasm at playing against big teams and what this meant for Nigerian football.
“It will sharpen the team to achieve our goal of winning the next Africa Cup of Nations. We also have the opportunity to test a number of players.”
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has lashed out at the ex-Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick, over Nigeria's failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

FootballRohr had led the team to reach the final round of the World Cup qualifiers, but the Franco-German tactician was fired on the eve of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Sports Brief reported.
Augustine Eguavoen was then appointed to lead Nigeria, but the team crashed out in the second round of AFCON and lost to Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers.
