In the recently concluded World Cup qualifiers, their 7-0, and 5-0 win over San Marino gave them an edge over Albania and Hungary to proceed to the playoffs, where they were to face Russia, but due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, they were kicked off the tournament leaving Poland to face Sweden whom they defeated 2-0. This landed them a qualifier. This article lists the players confirmed to be in Poland's World Cup squad in Qatar.

Poland's history at the World Cup

Poland has been to eight World Cup tournaments, with its debut being in 1938. Their best performances were in 1974 and 1984 when they finished third, but they have since failed to make it past the group stages. They failed to qualify in 2010 and 2014 and were knocked out of group stages in the last World Cup held in Russia.

Who is on the Poland team?

Apart from having tremendous success across Polish teams, coach Michniewicz is also known to have sought the counsel of many people before coming to any decision. So, who did he pick for his 26-man team?

Goalkeeper

In the goalkeeping sector, the coach has come out on several occasions to state that he wanted to have four goalkeepers, but after careful consideration, he narrowed it down to three.

The most pressing question is, is Robert Lewandowski playing in this World Cup? Yes, the 34-year-old Barcelona star will lead his national team in this year's World Cup. Not only is he Poland's most-capped player, but he is also the leading goal-scorer of all time.

His appearance in the World Cup comes after he received a three-match ban from his club Barcelona last week for disrespecting a referee in an outing against Osasuna. It's also worth noting that Lewandowski has never scored in the World Cup and is looking to right his wrongs.

In this World Cup, Lewandowski will be assisted by Juventus's forward Arkadiusz Milik, together with Karol Swiderski and Krzysztof Piatek.
