Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of Portugal's squad for the international friendly encounter against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday, 17 November.

Fernando Santos who is the coach of the Portugal national team confirmed that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is currently having a stomach bug and won't be available for the match.

Ronaldo and his teammates are currently in camp in Portugal where they are training ahead of their campaign at the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Santos and his wards are expected to fly to Qatar in a private flight later this week for the World Cup.

He made it clear that Ronaldo needs to rest and won't face Nigeria according to the report on Supersport.

Santos' statement about Ronaldo

"He is suffering from gastroenteritis and will not train today for this reason.

"Ronaldo won't be ready to face Nigeria, he's resting, as you know, gastritis takes a lot out of players."

Meanwhile, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen won't also be available for the Super Eagles against Portugal.
