Hamburger SV forward Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer has expressed disappointment after failing to make the final Ghana squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Konigsdorffer has been in fine form in the German Bundesliga II, and was tipped as one of the players to join Otto Addo's men for the World Cup.

However, the Black Stars coach did not include the 21-year-old in his team, preferring the likes of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Antoine Semenyo over the German-born forward.

Konigsdorffer believes he merited a place in the team and should have been on the plane to Qatar.

"I was disappointed. I would have liked it. I think I deserved a nomination," he told the BiLD as quoted by GHANASoccernet.com.

The former Germany youth international made his Black Stars debut during the friendly against Nicaragua in September.

However, it appears to have not been enough to impress Ghana selectors.

Konigsdorffer explains his Ghana choice

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Germany U21 striker Konigsdorffer has disclosed why he opted to represent Ghana at international level.

The 21-year-old forward switched nationality from German to play for Ghana at the senior level in June.

According to the Hamburg forward, his decision to play for the Black Stars was inspired by his father, adding the chance to play international football with the African country was easier.

Ghana begin World Cup training

The Black Stars of Ghana held their first training session ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Monday, as days count down to the tournament.

Twenty-three players, including home-based duo Danlad Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, were present at practice.

The rest of the players - namely Alexander Djiku, Joseph Aidoo and Kamaldeen Sulemana - are expected to join the team in UAE on Tuesday.
