Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi has expressed happiness with the opportunity to be part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
It was a massive achievement for Nigeria in 2013 when late coach, Stephen Keshi, led the Nigerian team to success at the AFCON against all odds beating the likes of Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso in the competition.
Since then, the Super Eagles have not been able to win the AFCON title as it will also be recalled that Nigeria crashed out in the knockout stage at the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
At the 2013 Nations Cup, Obi was in superb form for Nigeria in the midfield and was able to win the hearts of many fans.

According to a video spotted on Twitter, the retired footballer explained that winning the Nations Cup is as big as the UEFA Champions League which he also won at Chelsea.

''Many African football legends did not win the Nations Cup, and I am so proud of myself winning it with Nigeria which was massive for me then with the Super Eagles.
