FootballReal Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is said to be in favour of keeping the player and views him as being untouchable in the squad. On the other hand, some people associated with the club view Mendy as a weak link in the lineup. Many have compared Mendy with Madrid's former defender, Marcelo, and therefore don't rate him very highly.
As noted by Transfermarkt, Mendy has played 17 games out of 21 for Madrid this season, highlighting that he is viewed as a first-team player. The Real Champs reported that Mendy is viewed as one of the problem areas in Madrid's defense.

While Madrid have tied down some of their other stars to long-term contracts, they have yet to negotiate with Mendy. His contract at the club only expires in 2025, leaving Los Blancos in no rush to decide just yet on his future.
