Dutch goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen was not too delighted after being left out of the Netherlands’ final 26-man squad by manager Louis Van Gaal for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper had been widely expected to make the cut for Qatar as he enjoys a good relationship with Van Gaal and was also the team’s most experienced player with 63 caps.
According to Metro UK, Cillessen was left furious with the decision to leave him out of the Netherlands squad as he exploded with anger when he was informed on Friday morning.

Cillessen was Netherlands’ first-choice goalkeeper under Louis van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup in Russia but has now lost his place to Justin Bijlow, Remko Pasveer, and Andries Noppert.
The Netherlands begin their World Cup campaign against Senegal on November 21, before facing Ecuador four days later and concluding the group stage against host nation Qatar.
Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven’s Xavi Simons has been included in the Netherlands’ 26-man line-up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup by manager Louis Van Gaal, Eurosport reports.
Simons, who is regarded as one of the nation's brightest emerging stars, has made 21 appearances across all competitions and recorded 10 goals and four assists.
The uncapped Simons is arguably the most eye-catching selection and serves as a reward for a fine run of form this season.
Cillessen surprise omission as Van Gaal names Dutch squad
FootballEarlier, Sports Brief reported veteran goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was a surprise omission from the Netherlands' World Cup squad announced by coach Louis van Gaal on Friday.
Cillessen who rejoined his old club NEC Nijmegen from Valencia in August to improve his chances of selection, was dropped in favour of Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow.
Ajax's Remko Pasveer and the surprise inclusion of Heerenveen's Andries Noppert also made the team to the World Cup, the Dutch football federation announced in a statement.
