  • Lionel Messi's Argentina have been awarded the World Cup title after a simulation conducted by EA Sports
  • The video game company ran the simulation on FIFA 23, with the results showing Argentina would beat Brazil in the final
  • Defending champions France and Euro 2016 winners Portugal will reach the semifinals, according to the simulation

Popular video game company EA Sports has boldy predicted that Lionel Messi's Argentina will win the World Cup.

The company arrived at that conclusion after conducting a simulation using its latest version of FIFA 23.

Argentina fans have every reason to take this as the gospel truth because EA Sports correctly predicted the winners of the past three editions. The company settled for a Spain win in 2010, a German triumph in 2014 and French heroics four years ago in Russia.

Argentina vs Brazil in the final

The simulation shows that Argentina will play Brazil in the final this year. If this happens, it will be a repeat of the 2021 Copa America final, where the former won to give Messi his first international trophy.

There is no denying that both Argentina and Brazil are huge favourites for the title. The two teams are expected to dispatch European opposition in France and Portugal, respectively, in the semi-finals.

Messi has also been touted as the player who will score the most number of goals, with Netherlands forward Memphis Depay finishing second.

Argentina will have to overcome Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Poland in the group stages, while Brazil will have to beat Switzerland, Serbia and Cameroon.

Luka Modric thinks Argentina will win

Previously, Sports Brief reported that Luka Modric had touted Argentina as strong favourites to win the World Cup later this year.

The Croatian captain has claimed that Argentina are a good team and the addition of Lionel Messi makes them practically unplayable. Argentina have placed themselves in a prime position to win football’s greatest trophy by winning the Copa America and the Finalissima trophies.

The side will be hoping to go one better than their 2014 exploits, where they reached the final and lost to Germany.
