Should that happen, the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker will be afforded a glorious opportunity to break Thierry Henry's record for France.

Henry, who enjoyed an illustrious career with France, is the country's all-time top scorer with 51 goals.

However, that brilliant record could be put on the line, with Giroud in a pole position to shatter it.

The AC Milan superstar is just two goals shy of Henry's 51 and could get the chance to break it if he makes France's World Cup squad.

Giroud fires AC Milan to victory

Giroud's latest goal for AC Milan came on the weekend when he scored a last-minute winner against Spezia.

The goal was enough to inspire the Rossoneri to a 2-1 crucial win to retain their place in second on the standings.

Speaking on his acrobatic finish, the France international said:

“As I said before, I want to play and I have the determination as well as motivation to continue," he said via Talksport.
"I’ve spoken a lot with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on this matter and he shares my mindset. We are blessed with bodies that want to do even more. I’ll keep going," he added.
