Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso has revealed he always had a soft spot for the Catalan giants, despite starting his career with football career arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old Spanish defender spent over 5 years at Real Madrid after featuring for Los Blancos’ youth teams from 2005 to 2010, playing for the Under-17s to Real Madrid Castilla.
According to Marca, Alonso has now admitted that he had always wanted to join Barcelona, as the Spanish giants have been his favourite football club right from when he was a child.
"Throughout my career, I always wanted to sign for Barcelona. It was my team since I was a child. I trialled Real Madrid reluctantly, my parents laughed at me, but it was the best way for me to develop."

Alonso arrived at Barcelona at the very end of the summer transfer market, after leaving English Premier League giants Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso has made it clear that he wants to stay longer with Barcelona, after joining the Catalan giants this summer from Chelsea, SB Nation reports.
The 31-year-old defender penned a one-year contract when he arrived from the Blues, and there’s already been speculation Barcelona wants to renew his deal for another couple of seasons.
Alonso has made 11 appearances for Barcelona this season and has been used both as a central defender and left-back by manager Xavi.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Spanish giants Barcelona have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso.
The 31-year-old joined the Catalan giants on a one-year deal, with a buyout clause around the region of £43.3m.
The left-back parted ways with Thomas Tuchel's side on deadline day, despite having a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
