Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has applauded Nigerian international Alex Iwobi for his remarkable turnaround for Premier League club Everton.
Iwobi has produced excellent performances in the top English flight this season, despite having trouble settling at the club.
The Nigerian international has notched one goal and made five assists so far this season, with only Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne providing more assists than the former Gunner during this campaign.
Speaking about players that have impressed him this season, Defoe suggested that Iwobi's performances have made him become a totally different player.

Defoe said, as per GOAL:
“They have a top goalkeeper [Jordan Pickford], Calvert-Lewin coming back, and then there is Iwobi. He seems like a different player."
"He plays in that position, that number ten, where he can play more off-the-cuff. Not focusing too much tactically on the other side of the game, and that has helped him.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old was not as sharp over the weekend as Everton fell 2-0 to Leicester at Goodison Park.

On the other hand, Iwobi has disclosed that he wants to remain at Everton with an aim to win trophies at the club, Sports Brief has reported.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to French club Monaco, following his recent sensational performances for the Toffees.

Sports Brief earlier reported that English Premier League club Everton are in contract extension talks with Nigerian international midfielder Iwobi.
The midfielder has continued to flourish under manager Frank Lampard, and the Toffees are set to extend his contract despite the existing one running until the summer of 2024.
Iwobi has grown to become one of the best midfielders in the English top flight, and Everton are already making efforts to tie him down.
