Lionel Messi’s impeccable form for Paris Saint-Germain this season has caught the attention of football lovers across the globe.
The 35-year-old forward has surpassed Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as the player with the most goal contributions this season, after another assist against Juventus in the Champions League.
According to Football Spike, Messi has made 26 goal contributions for PSG in the 2022/23 season, while Haaland has had a total of 25 assists for the Premier League champions.
Messi has scored 12 goals and assisted his fellow forwards 14 times this season, which is more than Haaland who scored 22 goals and provided 3 assists for Manchester City.

The 35-year-old Argentine forward assisted Kylian Mbappe’s goal in PSG’s 2-1 win over Juventus, which was his 39th assist of his Champions League career.
Tebas says football misses Messi
Meanwhile, La Liga president Javier Tebas has aimed a dig at Ligue 1, claiming ex-Barcelona star Lionel Messi has had much less exposure at Paris Saint-Germain, Goal reports.
Tebas claims the 35-year-old forward is now talked about far less because he plays in a less competitive league.
Messi joined PSG on a free transfer following his departure from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, and struggled for consistency in his first year at Parc des Princes with the French champions.

The 23-year-old scored once as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Juventus 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium, taking his tally to 7 goals in the competition this season.
Mbappe has now surpassed Lionel Messi’s record as the youngest player to reach 40 goals.
