Kylian Mbappe has put himself in the history books of the UEFA Champions League, by becoming the youngest player to score 40 goals in the competition’s history.
The 23-year-old scored one as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Juventus 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium, to take his tally to 7 goals in the competition this season.
According to Football Spike, Mbappe has now surpassed Lionel Messi’s record as the youngest player to reach the tally of 40 goals.
Messi completed 40 goals in the Champions League when he was 24 years and 130 days old, while Mbappe has reached the tally in just 23 years and 317 days.

The 2018 World Cup winner has also surpassed legends such as Raul Gonzalez (25 years 258 days), Karim Benzema (26 years 307 days) and Cristiano Ronaldo (27 years 241 days).
Mbappe battles Salah in score
Meanwhile, Mbappe and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah are tied on 7 goals at the top of this season's Champions League scoring charts, UEFA reports.
Salah ends the group stage having scored in five straight Champions League games, with the quickest hat-trick in the history of the competition against Rangers.
Mbappe scored five goals over the course of five games also, and his opening goal for PSG against Juventus on matchday 6 brought him even with Salah once more.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that there appears to be no stopping Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé this season.
