  • Conte received a red card in Tottenham’s fifth Champions League group game against Sporting Lisbon
  • The red card meant the Italian was subsequently banned from the touchline in the game against Marseille
  • Tottenham needed a positive result on Tuesday, November 1 to ensure progression to the knockout stages

Photos of Antonio Conte watching the Tottenham game against Marseille from the stands have tickled fans online.

The Tottenham boss received his marching orders in his side’s last Champions League match, a 1-1 draw against Sporting Lisbon.

The Wednesday, October 26 game proved to be a frustrating one for Tottenham as they thought they had clinched a late winner against their Portuguese counterparts, but the goal was chopped off for an apparent offside against Harry Kane.

Fast forward to the Marseille game and Conte practically had no say in proceedings as he had to pay for his red card by sitting out proceedings from the stands.

Images have since surfaced of the former Juventus boss watching the game, and they are quite interesting.

In truth, one could easily have mistaken Conte for one of the hundreds of random supporters watching the game at The Stade Vélodrome.

“So unusual for the touch line warrior to be sitting among fans on the stands,” One fan commented.
“The game has gone soft,” another added.
“He won't have the chance to complain,” said another.
“Good that he sees what the fans watch every week,”

Tottenham players rocked by fireworks from Marseille fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on how Tottenham players were subjected to a sleepless night on Tuesday by unruly Marseille fans.

Cheeky Marseille fans reportedly targeted the luxury hotel where the Tottenham players and manager Antonio Conte were residing, ahead of their Champions League game.

On the night of Monday, October 31, hundreds of partygoers took to the streets to celebrate Halloween, but some fans decided it was the perfect opportunity to shake up the Tottenham team.
