  • Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reportedly told manager Xavi Hernandez to change his coaching staff
  • Xavi brought his brother Oscar Hernandez from former club Al-Sadd, and he is serving serve as his assistant
  • Barcelona failed to reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive season after their 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has been told to change his technical staff after their humiliating exit from the UEFA Champions League.

The Catalan giants suffered back-to-back elimination from Europe's top-tier club competition on the back of Inter Milan's 4-0 triumph against Viktoria Plzen.

The Blaugrana knew of their status before playing their penultimate group game against Bayern Munich, which ended in a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Camp Nou.

Per reports by the editor of SPORT, J.M Casanovas, Joan Laporta is concerned about Barcelona's technical staff as he believes it's one of the big roots of the problems at Camp Nou.

Xavi's assistant and right-hand man is his older brother, Oscar. The 46-year-old deputised Xavi during his managerial roles with ASPIRE academy and AL-Sadd.

In addition, Xavi's other assistant is Sergio Alegre, who was fired by third-division side Rubi back in 2016. Alegre also worked as a scout in the lower division club Olot.

Barcelona's physiotherapist, Ivan Torres, is Xavi's boyfriend. He does not have a top-level experience as he only worked with lower-tier side Avila.

According to Casanovas' report, Xavi does not really trust his coaching staff as he makes the big calls alone without consulting his staff, who he deems to be without "authority and character".

How Xavi and Barcelona Bench Celebrated

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Xavi Hernandez and the Barcelona bench could not hide their joy following Robert Lewandowski's last-gasp goal against Valencia.

Barcelona were on the cusp of a draw with Gennaro Gattuso's men but were ultimately bailed out by the athleticism of Lewandowski, who reached Raphinha's cross at full stretch to score the match-winner.

The narrow win, secured in heartwarming fashion, follows a mid-week 3-0 defeat by Bayern Munich that saw the Catalan giants knocked out of the Champions League before the end of the group stage.
