Antony performed the move against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night, drawing heavy criticism from pundits and support from United fans who feel the Brazilian was enjoying himself.

Erik ten Hag substituted Antony at halftime and said the spin move wasn't why he took him off. he said that he has no problem with the spin as long as it is "functional", according to Sky Sports.

Antony fires back

On his Instagram story, Antony delivered a defiant message to critics. The story was accompanied by a photo of Antony doing the spin. The translated caption read:

"We are known for our art, and I will not stop doing what brought me to where I am!"

Scholes rips into Antony

Sports Brief earlier reported on Manchester United legend Paul Scholes blasting Antony for doing the move, calling him a clown.

Scholes did not mince his words when reacting to Antony's showboating.

"This country, any country even Brazil. They don't want to see that do they? I like to see skills and entertainment, I just don't think it's skill or entertainment it's just being a clown."
