The 80-year-old took over at struggling Manchester United in 1986 and slowly built a dominant team which swept aside English football, winning 13 Premier League titles, a feat that will take some time to eclipse.

Ferguson is considered one of the greatest coaches in football and dominated English football for over two decades, winning every trophy imaginable before sadly retiring in 2013, according to the Guardian.

Ferguson stuns Macarthur

A picture of the Scotsman appeared on the big screen during the training session, and many players were puzzled and then realised Ferguson had paid them a visit, according to Sportbible.

Given that the team is preparing for a huge A-League encounter with Sydney FC on Saturday 29th October, Sir Alex's visit certainly lightened the squad's mood.

Dwight Yorke, Sir Alex's striker once upon a time, was pleased to see his former boss.

“It’s a wonderful surprise to all of us – he didn’t have to be here. They don't come much bigger than Sir Alex being here, and I'm very lucky and privileged that I still have that relationship with him."

Macarthur star Daniel De Silva couldn't believe the iconic manager visited them.

"It's obviously a fantastic thing to have him here at the club, probably the greatest manager of all time. Fantastic experience to meet him."

Yorke was a key player for Sir Alex when they famously won the treble in 1999.

Ferguson receives lucrative salary

Sports Brief earlier reported on Sir Alex Ferguson still receiving a handsome paycheck from Manchester United.

He is currently serving as the club's ambassador, a role that sees him earn more than many of the current players.

Reports indicate Ferguson earns close to 235,000 Euros weekly for his club's global ambassador role.
