Atletico Madrid talent Joao Felix stepped forward and attempted to take their last-gasp penalty against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.
In a must-win match against the German club, Yannick Carrasco missed a 99th-minute spot kick, as Diego Simeone's side were crashed out of the Champions League.
Atleti needed a victory at the Wanda Metropolitano to stand a chance of advancing to the round of 16 of Europe's top-tier club competition.
As cited by Marca, Felix was seen in conversation with his teammate, clearly hoping for the chance to complete a dramatic win and appeared to say to his colleague: "I'll take it".

The Belgium international then stepped up from 12 yards but saw his effort saved by Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.
Atletico midfielder Saul Niguez followed up with a rebound but he saw his effort hit the crossbar. The ball then fell to another Atletico player Reinildo Mandava, but his low drive deflected off Carrasco and went over the bar.
Atletico bow out of the Champions League for only the second time in the last 10 years, winning a single game, losing twice and sharing the spoils on two occasions, ESPN reports.
