- Fernandes has captained the club in Harry Maguire's absence, and fans have called on Erik ten Hag to make it permanent
- Maguire is back in training for the Red Devils after being out for the last few weeks with an injury
Iconic Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has revealed that Harry Maguire knows who should take over as captain of the club, after an underwhelming year for both club and country.
Maguire has fallen off drastically and is now third-choice centre-back at the club, after being dropped by Erik ten Hag following a poor start to the season.
Maguire is the most expensive defender in the world, following a sensational move from Leicester City in 2019, according to the BBC. Nevertheless, his performances this year have seen fans heavily criticise the England star, with some calling for him to be sold.
The 29-year-old started United's first two matches this season but has started just one match since - the Europa League clash with Real Sociedad.

Fernandes could replace Maguire
Dwight Yorke, a treble-winner with United, believes temporary captain Bruno Fernandes has been told he will be the club captain going forward to replace Maguire, according to Sportbible.
“Before, he was the stand-in captain, which wasn’t a problem. I think with the Maguire scenario, looking from the outside in at the club without knowing all the details, I think he’s been told he’s going to be the captain going forward."
The Trinidad and Tobago legend isn't expecting an announcement on that this season.
“Obviously, I wouldn’t expect this to be an official announcement this season with Maguire at the club, but perhaps the manager has had a word with him and that has given him the confidence he needed as a player.”

FootballAccording to the Man United website, Yorke played an influential role for the club as they won the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup.
According to Transfermarkt, Yorke scored 66 goals for United in 152 appearances, forming a lethal partnership with Andy Cole.
Harry Maguire returns from injury
Sports Brief earlier reported on Harry Maguire's return from injury, with a possibility of starting for the club in Thursday's clash in the Europa League.
Maguire has been injured since the last international break and with Raphael Varane out until the World Cup, the Englishman is set to return to the starting line-up.
However, he faces competition from Victor Lindelof, the third-choice centre-back.
