Liverpool’s summer signing Darwin Nunez came up with arguably the miss of the season on Wednesday, October 26 against Ajax.
The Reds went into the game knowing they had already qualified for the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition, but Jurgen Klopp still started a strong XI in response to the shock 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out.
Darwin Nunez, a summer acquisition from Benfica, was selected to start after seemingly settling in at Anfield and banging in some goals.
As a Liverpool player, questions have been asked of Nunez at times, with his finishing particularly coming under the spotlight.

This was the case once again against Ajax as the young striker somehow failed to score from five yards out after being teed up nicely with a square ball.
After some nice build-up play, Andy Robertson fed Roberto Firmino, who then set up Nunez for the easiest of tap-ins, but it was not meant to be for the 23-year-old, whose side-foot shot cannoned off the ball and back in play.
His miss instantly led to hilarious reactions around the Johan Cruyff Arena, but it mattered little as Liverpool took the lead through their talisman, Mohammed Salah, deep in the first half.
The Egyptian, against the run of play, finished up a pass from Jordan Henderson to score with the outside of his foot.

FootballNunez then made amends soon after the restart as he found his goal, which was his fourth in his last four starts for the Reds.
Moments later and Harvey Elliot took the game away from the hosts with a goal to make it 3-0.
