Thierry Henry has disclosed that former France teammate Zinedine Zidane would prefer handling Les Bleus ahead of returning to club football.

Zidane has been on a sabbatical since vacating his post as Real Madrid boss in May 2021. However, the legendary former France midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs in recent times.

He was linked to the hot seat at PSG in the summer following the sack of Mauricio Pochettino, before the position was eventually assumed by Christophe Galtier.

But Henry, who won the 1998 World Cup alongside Zidane, has predicted his former France teammate will turn down a chance to coach the Italian giants.

“He’s been linked to lots of clubs, but it’s never happened. I don’t think Zizou will want to do it,” Henry said via Get French Football News.

The former footballer-turned-pundit suggested Zizou would bid his time in favour of coaching the France national team after the 2022 World Cup.

“I can see Zidane waiting for the France national team, and it would make total sense,” he continued.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Zidane recently said that he would return to management 'soon'.

Zidane returning to management soon

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Zinedine Zidane has provided insight on when he will return to management, after being out of job since exiting his role as Real Madrid boss.

Zidane last managed Los Blancos, where he vacated his position as head coach after the 2020-21 season, revealing there is a disconnection between the club's top hierarchy and himself.

Since vacating his post, the former France midfielder has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, where he was considered the favourite to assume the hot seat following the sack of Mauricio Pochettino.
