USA Today reports that members of the Qatar bidding committee allegedly bribed members of FIFA to sway their votes. Similar accusations were levelled against the awarding of the 2018 event to Russia.
Court charges former FIFA president
Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter admitted that it was a mistake to award this year's showpiece to Qatar. Blatter has been in the corridors of justice alongside former UEFA boss Michel Platini on corruption charges. The duo was finally cleared of any wrongdoing this year.
FIFA Uncovered will also reportedly shed light on money laundering, racketeering and tax evasion within the federation.
The official tagline on Netflix reads:
"For decades, FIFA united the globe through football. But behind the game, craftier schemes were at play. This documentary series traces the organisation's legacy, exploring the pageantry, power struggles and politics of hosting the World Cup..."

FootballThe 1998 World Cup was fixed
Previously, Sports Brief reported that former UEFA President and France legend Michel Platini had revealed that the 1998 World Cup draw was tampered with.
Platini, who was under trial together with former FIFA President Sepp Blatter, confessed that there was a scheme to ensure that hosts France didn’t meet pre-tournament favourites Brazil until the final.
Platini was a very talented player during his days. He is one of the few players to have won the Ballon d’Or at least three times after his exploits in 1983, 1984 and 1985. After retirement, he served as the head coach of the French national team from 1988 to 1992.
