The La Liga champions reportedly have offered the attacker a new three-year deal with improved wages. His agent, Jorge Mendes has rejected the deal and reportedly wants more from the club.
Wage demands scupper transfer deals
Asensio's wage demands were a big reason why no clubs made a move for the player in the summer transfer window, and why Madrid have yet to tie him down to a new deal.
As noted by Transfermarkt, Asensio has made 11 appearances for Madrid this season - all of those appearances were as a substitute. He's scored two goals and notched up one assist, but has impressed in recent accounts against Elche and Sevilla.
Madrid want an answer soon
Asensio is rumoured to be tempted to stay in Madrid, knowing that playing elsewhere could be difficult, but his agent is adamant that Madrid cough up more if they want to keep his client.
