Arjen Robben has paid a touching tribute to former Bayern Munich teammate Franck Ribery, following the decision of the Frenchman to call time on his football career.
Ribery brought down the curtains on what has been an illustrious career on Saturday, October 22 during Salernitana's home game against Spezia.
The 2006 World Cup silver medalist was left in tears when he was unveiled in front of a packed stadium, receiving applauds from his teammates at Salernitana in an emotional farewell video which made the rounds on the internet.

FootballOn the back of Ribery's retirement Robben, who formed a lethal partnership with the Frenchman at Bayern Munich, paid tribute to his former teammate.
"Thank you for everything, my friend!" Robben wrote on his Twitter handle.
"It was always a great pleasure with you on and off the field! You can be really proud of everything you have achieved! It was and will always be an honour for me to be part of Rob-bery. Enjoy the time with your family now and see you soon!"

According to GOAL, the 39-year-old is set to continue with Serie A side Salernitana in a non-playing role and will work alongside head coach Davide Nicola.
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Franck Ribery could barely contain his emotions as as he was unveiled for the final time as a football player on Saturday, October 22.

FootballThere were initial suggestions that 39-year-old Ribery would feature for Italian Serie A newcomers Salernitana for one last time in the game against Spezia.
However, following his retirement announcement on Friday, the Frenchman was omitted from the squad, but focus was fully on him prior to kick-off.
