  • Erling Haaland was back in among the goals on Saturday, October 22
  • The young striker bagged a brace in the first half as Manchester City established a lead against Brighton
  • He is now on 17 league goals so far this season, with only 10 games of the campaign played

Manchester City star Erling Haaland was at it again as he bagged a first half brace against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Haaland might have fired blanks in City’s previous game against Liverpool, but there were no signs of rustiness from the Norwegian as his team welcomed the Seagulls at the Etihad.

While Alisson provided the assist that led to City’s downfall last week, it was Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson who turned provider six days later.

Ederson played a classy long pass in behind the Brighton defence which was pounced upon by the ever-lingering Haaland.

The 22-year old then exhibited blistering pace and power to beat keeper Robert Sanchez to the ball. He then proceeded to barge Adam Webster out of the way with a body-check before slotting into an empty net.

This goal meant Haaland has now scored in a seventh consecutive home game.

For his second goal, it came from the penalty spot after Bernardo Silva was adjudged to have been fouled after a lengthy VAR check.

Here are some of the reactions on social media after Haaland’s brace:

"Erling Haaland needs one more goal today to complete 4 hattricks out of his last 5 Premier League home fixtures. That is absolutely mental."
"Haaland just ran onto a 70-yard pass from his goalkeeper, ran over a Brighton defender, and scored with his wrong foot. He is terrifyingly good."
"What a goal. Pace. Power & strengh and a neat finish. Not a bad pass from Ederson either!"
"There should have been a law against city buying Haaland"
